Burley’s Family Home Care - making a difference in the care sector
Who we are - home care support with a difference
Burley's Family Home Care was set up by Carly and Paul Burley in 2009 with ambitions to provide home care the right way. Both Paul and Carly had experienced the pitfalls of the larger care companies and were determined to set up a company with a personal side, not dictated by bureaucracy. Burley's has grown as a company since its inception, gaining a reputation for transparency, approach-ability and incredibly high standards of care.
The Burley's philosophy is all about being on the ground, meeting service users personally; this way we get to know and develop a personal relationship with all of our clients outside of the office. We passionately believe in the importance of consistency in care and we take many measures to ensure that the same carer visits every day, and that there is a Dedicated Care Manager to oversee the care plan.
Carly started off as a care worker at a large care company after completing her psychology degree at Southampton University, but became frustrated with the way things were run. She could see inefficiencies and vast logistical problems that made consistency of care difficult to provide. She stepped into an administrative role to try to make changes but found herself restricted by constant box ticking activities. Determined that a care company could do better she obtained all the necessary leadership and care management qualifications and founded Burley's Family Home Care in 2009.
Paul has a background in Business and Entrepreneurship, having worked for a number of start-ups and small companies after graduating with a business degree from Southampton University. However, through his family he had had personal experience of the pitfalls and deterioration of the care industry and along with Carly he passionately believed that care could and should be done better.
Burley's Family Home Care is part of the Dignity in Care network. As dignity champions we are proud to hold to the highest standards and champion the dignity rules. We promise to:
- Stand up and challenge disrespectful behaviour rather than just tolerate it,
- Act as good role models by treating other people with respect, particularly those who are less able to stand up for themselves,
- Speak up about dignity to improve the way that services are organised and delivered,
- Inform and influence colleagues,
- Listen to and understand the views and experiences of citizens.
