What a job as a carer involves
If you decide to become a carer, you can expect a flexible and rewarding career ahead of you. This is your chance to use your interpersonal skills alongside a natural instinct for taking care of others who may be sick or vulnerable.
Home care is right for you if you are able to fulfil other people's needs including:
- personal care, such as washing or dressing
- housekeeping or domestic work, such as vacuuming
- cooking or preparing meals
- nursing and health care
How you'll work
A career in home care requires flexibility on your part – you may be asked to work in a number of different ways with sessions ranging from 30-minute visits to 24-hour assistance and everything in between.
With Burley's you'll get a comprehensive induction training before you start, as well as ongoing mentoring and training. You'll also be encouraged to study for professional care qualifications to develop your skills.
Applicants will be required to complete a DBS Criminal Record Check. If you have one registered with the Update Service or have very recently applied for one elsewhere, we may be able to speed up your application.
