Our Training Instructor
Paul and Elisha your dedicated in house trainer and mentor, have both worked in care for number of years and Elisha has been a care worker herself. Her considerable experience means she has a strong understanding of the role she is training in.
At Burleys , we give all of our new care workers a full five day induction. Delivered in house by our instructor Paul, our induction is based around the 15 standards of the Care Certificate introduced in April 2015. Designed to give you a solid grounding in your responsibilities as a care worker, the Care Certificate training is delivered through a classroom based programme and you’ll receive a workbook documenting your progress.
Day 1: Introduction ; Mental Capacity ; Medication
Day 2: Confidentiality; Communication; First Aid; Abuse; Food Hygiene; Emergency First Aid.
Day 3: Care Certificate Workbook; Safe Handling of Medication; Infection Control; Health and Safety; Dementia.
Day 4: Protection of Vulnerable Adults (POVA); Safeguarding Adults: Fire Training; Diabetes Care; Infection Control.
Day 5: First Aid / Branch training
After the five days’ Care Certificate training, you will go out with your mentor Elisha and one experienced care worker. To shadowed to understand the care of each Services User, If you don’t feel ready to start working alone after the Four shifts, that’s not a problem – you can do the shadowed work for as long as it takes you to gain the confidence to work alone. At Burleys Home care, we don’t think there’s a ‘one size fits all’ training plan, just like we don’t think there’s a ‘one size fits all’ care plan. Your Manager and the rest of our team will be here to support you.
