As someone who works at Burleys Home Care, I always look forward to Ringwood Carnival. It’s one of the highlights of the year – the colourful floats, the music, the fireworks, and of course, the wonderful community spirit. The whole town comes alive, and the excitement is infectious.
But what I love most is seeing the joy it brings to the people we support.
A Day Full of Smiles
For many of our elderly clients, the carnival isn’t just a fun event – it’s a real boost for their wellbeing. It’s a chance to get out of the house, breathe in the fresh air, and be part of something that makes Ringwood so special.
I’ve seen our service users faces light up as the procession goes by or as they share stories of the carnivals they enjoyed years ago. Many remember taking their children to watch, or even joining in the parade themselves. It’s amazing how a day like this can spark so many happy memories.
Supporting People to Stay Active and Involved
At Burleys, we know that care isn’t just about helping at home – it’s about making sure people continue to enjoy life. That’s why our companion care packages are designed to do just that.
With companion care, we can accompany loved ones to local events like the carnival, to garden centres, coffee mornings, or even just out for a walk. Sometimes it’s the smallest outings that make the biggest difference – breaking up the routine and reminding people how much there is to enjoy outside their four walls.
For families, it offers peace of mind knowing that their loved one has company, support, and encouragement to get involved in community life.
A Tradition That Connects Generations
The Ringwood Carnival has been running for decades, raising money for local charities and bringing the community together year after year. It’s one of those traditions that really connects generations – grandparents, parents, and children all enjoying the day in their own way.
For the elderly, it’s a chance to relive fond memories while making new ones. And with the right support, they don’t have to miss out on any of it.
Why I Love It Personally
As a carer, nothing makes me happier than seeing someone I support out enjoying themselves, chatting with neighbours, and soaking up the atmosphere. These moments make such a difference to someone’s day – and often their whole week.
The carnival is fun, lively, and a true celebration of everything we love about Ringwood. I’ll be there with my family, enjoying the music and food, and I know many of our clients will be too – either with their loved ones or with the support of our caring team.
